Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA)

The BC Government recently revised FIPPA legislation, which has affected all school districts. With the new legislation, school districts must complete Privacy Impact Assessments on all software applications and platforms. This is a daunting task!!

Most School Districts in BC use various enterprise-level platforms, such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, accounting ERP software, transportation applications, student analytics, and school attendance callouts. Each of these platforms requires a PIA. In addition to the above, educators use hundreds of different Ed-Tech-type applications, all of which require privacy assessments.
